How do I link my account?
+/-
To link your account for either Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero® World Tour, Guitar Hero® Metallica®, or Guitar Hero® Smash Hits you must first have access to the Internet via your console, and you must have a console specific online account. This means as an Xbox 360™ player you need an Xbox LIVE® Account, as a PLAYSTATION®3 player you need a PLAYSTATION® NETWORK account, and as a Wii™ player you need a Nintendo Wi-Fi account.
1. Turn on your copy of the game, and navigate to the online section of Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock, or Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith (found on the main menu screen). If you are playing Guitar Hero® World Tour, then you must go to the options section on the main menu. If you are playing Guitar Hero® Metallica® or Guitar Hero® Smash Hits, then you must go to Backstage section on the main menu.
2. Once you are in the online section (Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith) or the options section (Guitar Hero® World Tour), go to the option labeled”www.guitarhero.com”. On Guitar Hero® Metallica® and Guitar Hero® Smash Hits, go to the option labeled “Community.”
3. Upon selecting that option you will see a 16 digit code. This code is called the VIP Passcode, and is required to link your account. Write your code down for safe keeping.
4. Now that you have your VIP Passcode, go to community.guitarhero.com. Select “Link Account” from the select action drop down menu on the top right section of the site.
5. Once here, choose your gaming platform.
6. Now input your Xbox 360™ Gamertag, PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Username, or Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile. Enter your VIP Passcode, and select the game you are linking an account from (Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero® World Tour, Guitar Hero® Metallica® or Guitar Hero® Smash Hits ) and click on Link Account.
7. Your Guitar Hero® game should now be linked to your Guitar Hero® Community web
account. Your account will now showcase your in-game statistics, and will update automatically! You would repeat this entire process if you are looking to link either Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero® World Tour, Guitar Hero® Metallica® or Guitar Hero® Smash Hits on top of the game you just linked.

Can I link more than one Xbox 360™ Gamertag, PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Username, or Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile to my web account?
+/-
Yes you can! To link an additional Xbox LIVE® Gamertag, PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Profile, or Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile from the same Guitar Hero® title to your web account, just follow the same steps listed in “How Do I Link My Account?”
Please note that you are only allowed to link one in-game account per console. This means that you can have a combination of an Xbox LIVE® Gamertag, a PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Profile, and a Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile linked to your account, but you can not link multiple in-game accounts from the same console. If you attempt to do this, and we find you trying to use exploits in anyway, you put yoursefl in danger of being banned from the community.
Please also keep in mind that if you link more than one Xbox LIVE® Gamertag / PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Profile/Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile, you must select which Xbox LIVE® Gamertag / PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Profile/Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile you want as your main stat provider. You do that by going to your account options in the upper right corner of the website, and selecting “Account: Guitar Hero® Title” (make sure to choose the proper game)” Once there, select which Xbox LIVE® Gamertag / PLAYSTATION® NETWORK Profile/Nintendo Wi-Fi Profile you want as your main stat provider, and press “Select Account.”
Note: Even though you are allowed to link more than one in-game account from the same Guitar Hero® Title to your Community web account, for the best possible community experience it is recommended that you only link one in-game slot per Guitar Hero® title to your web account. Having more than one in-game account from the same Guitar Hero® title linked can sometimes lead to a mix-up of stats across your in-game accounts.

When I enter in my VIP Passcode and try to link my account, it says “slot already claimed.” What does that mean?
+/-
This message means that the VIP Passcode you have entered has already been claimed, either by yourself or another user. This usually happens if a user accidently types in the VIP Passcode of someone else, or they press the Link Account button more than once. If you get an error when linking you account, you should wait 24 hours and try to link again.
If you are still having issues after multiple attempts at linking your account, please follow the directions listed on the following Support Thread: Account Linking Issues.

When attempting to link my web account, it says it cannot find my VIP Passcode. What does that mean?
+/-
This usually means that you have entered in an incorrect VIP Passcode. Be sure that you are typing in the correct characters; it is easy to confuse Zeros with O’s or Ones with L’s. If you get an error when linking you account you should wait 24 hours before trying to link again.
If you are still having issues after multiple attempts at linking your account, please follow the directions listed on the following Support Thread: Account Linking Issues.

Can I unlink my account?
+/-
Users cannot unlink an in-game account from their web account. Guitar Hero® Community Managers do have the ability to unlink an in-game account for you, but will only do so under rare/legitimate circumstances.
Examples:
Bad Example: Guitar Hero® Community Managers will not unlink an in-game account if you get sick of a web profile username, and want to switch to a new one.
Good Example: User “JohnDoe425” has had issues with his web profile stats for the past couple of weeks, and has worked with Guitar Hero® Community Managers to solve the problem. If his stats are found to be a lost cause, and he needs to unlink an in-game slot to better enjoy his community experience, a Guitar Hero® Community Manager would unlink his current in-game slot for him.
